3 Monkeys Communications is an award-winning PR agency with an impressive portfolio of clients including  Skype, Post Office, Waitrose, 3 Mobile and Robert Dyas. Sophisticated IT is essential to their work, as email, web conferencing and web streaming are used on a daily basis. As Annabel Dunstan puts it: “poor communications would be the death of this business”.

When 3 Monkeys opened their London office, they realised they had outgrown their previous IT support company.  If anything went wrong, they needed an engineer on-site within 2 hours. They were recommended to contact Doherty Associates.

GOLD SUPPORT
3 Monkeys chose Doherty’s gold support contract; this allows them unlimited remote and telephone support from Doherty’s helpdesk, monthly site visits from an engineer and 24/7 network monitoring – particularly important as their directors often work round the clock.  Doherty also liaises with the company’s telephony, internet, online database and mobile broadband suppliers to ensure everything runs smoothly. As Annabel explains, “We aren’t interested in how the technology works; we just need it to work.” 

Instead of having an internal IT department, the company relies entirely on Doherty. “They have been brilliant – they are always on the end of the line. They understand that we are focussed on creativity and highly efficient and effective  communication that depends on having an IT system that works. They demonstrate great patience, even with the very simple problems that crop up every day. They break it down into bite-sized chunks and make us feel that it’s okay to ask silly questions” says Annabel.

If a problem can’t be resolved over the phone, Doherty logs on to the company systems remotely and fixes it there and then.  “It always inspires great confidence when someone takes it out of your hands, sorts it and gives it back fixed. Increasingly I just pass it over and say ‘please sort it for me’ because I have a hundred and one other things on my plate.”

GOING PLACES
Doherty has supported 3 Monkeys through a period of rapid growth, helping them migrate to a new server and move office three times. The most recent move required a great a deal of planning, but went smoothly. “Doherty always take great care when planning projects, which gave us peace of mind and the confidence that when we did move, the systems had already been tested and were working.”

Annabel believes Doherty’s dedicated account manager has been key to the success of the relationship; “Adam has been very proactive. As our business has grown, he has upgraded our systems.  It’s been a partnership, rather than a relationship where I feel I’m being sold to. I can be very honest; he responds very quickly, understands me and gets it right.
